Evening classes for complete beginners - weekly lessons during term-time

Can't play? Want to play?

Never played a nylon strung guitar in your life?
Evening Classes are a cost-effective way to take your first steps in the World of Music.

I'm employed by East Hampshire Leisure Learning at Merchistoun Hall, Horndean

Starting every September I teach "Guitar for Beginners" at Merchistoun Hall on Tuesday evenings.

  • My course lasts for three 10-week terms - you enrol a term at a time to spread the cost
  • The course is run by East Hampshire Leisure Learning - currently it's £68 a term
  • You'll need a Classical Guitar - if you'd like advice on what to buy, do contact me
  • The course starts right at the very beginning - you don't need any experience
  • There is a book to buy, costing about £15 - I will order them for you and bring them at the second lesson

To enrol, simply ring East Hampshire Leisure Learning on 01420 85057, mail them for a form or visit their website

  • Don't delay too long - when the class is full, it's full!

Classes start every September

Want to improve?

If you already play guitar a little, you might be able to join later in the year.

  • You can possibly join in January for the start of term 2
  • or April for the start of the final term

Contact me if you are interested, so we can chat about what you already know and find the best time for you to join

About my classes

I make sure that no-one feels out of their depth, no matter how limited their skills are at the moment.

No-one is ever asked to play in front of others; there's no pressure, even if, for whatever reason, you didn't manage much practice at home!

Class tuition is a mix of instruction & demonstration; plus handouts to take away.

The first half of each lesson is devoted to the homework and the second half to new topics.

There are optional CDs to play along with - made possible by the permission of the publisher of the book.

You may feel apprehensive about joining a class lesson when you don't know whether you can manage guitar or not, but my beginners' class is designed for people who've never played in their lives. If you attend regularly and do homework, you'll not only succeed but you'll make many new friends at the same time!
